Love Letter

Love Letter

I long for a handwritten love letter
from a far away distant place
where my lover may visit on business
and miss me
enough to seek out elaborately decorated stationary
and painstakingly put pen to paper
all of his high running emotions
in a desperate attempt to keep me at bay
so that I shall desire and seek out
his early return
to my embrace and gentle kisses.

Remember to tell him about the little things that matter

Like the music of rain on the widow sill, pitter patter

Remember to nudge him to glance at flowers

In beauty and sadness there is also power

Remember to show him how to look for rainbows

Because just beyond them are angels

Remember to walk, skip, climb or hike with him to a place

Where you both can soak in nature’s embrace

Remember to hold his hand and guide him

Support him and love him in times of panic and in trepidation

Remind him of our bond and our courage

Reinstall in him hope and love for our nation

Let him be free to choose his path

Let him be strong to cry in pain

Let him know it was not in vain

Let him question why

Ensure him that I was not wronged

Remind him that he, you and I

Family, friendship, love and freedom are why

Remember me and I will never die

In remembrance of those, and their families, who served, currently serve, plan to serve and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and our great nation.

Christmas in May

Christmas in May

Dear Santa,

For Christmas don’t bring me much
This year I don’t need to ask for stuff
Christmas came early with the gift of love
With gentle kisses and warm hugs
With sweet whisperings and an electrifying touch
He meets me half way and is a diamond in the rough
I can’t stop smiling and laughing it’s no bluff
He’s got class, brains and brawn, he’s tough
So Santa you can skip my house
I’ve found love and it’s more than enough

Love, Jules

Broken white picket fences

Tears cried

Dreams unrealized

Goals unattained

Families broken

Love estranged

Picked up bootstraps

Tears dried

New dreams dreamt

New goals materialized

Family is always family

A new love found that fits and stays

Love yourself and you’ll never go astray
